Proper sanitation facility is very crucial to protect against a multitude of diseases, raise overall health standards and restore human dignity in these poor communities. OSDI is committed to provide access to clean water and sanitation facilities through the renovation or construction of communal lavatory services, sewage lines and drainage pipes in the rural areas. Hygiene awareness is also very crucial to create awareness amongst these deprived communities.

Sewage and Lavatory
A sewage line along with 10 washrooms was renovated and constructed in the focused District Mardan.
Toilets Construction
150 toilets were constructed in the focused community of district Matiari in collaboration with Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation for households which were destroyed by the floods in 2010. Main features of these washrooms include a bathing place, a latrine on a household level and a communal septic tank for waste disposal. 13 toilets have been built in the focused community of Gul Burirro, district Shikarpur.
Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Practices
As a regular practice children of every focused community are given sessions to keep their hand and face clean, take bath daily, brush their teeth, comb their hair, cut their nails and maintain their physical hygiene. More than 53,291 beneficiaries were provided sessions on health & hygiene (till 2021).
